10th Street Lofts

The 4-story Standard Glass and Paint building, and the 6-story Herring Motor Car Buildings were converted into 93 lofts in 2005. The whole project today is called 10th Street Lofts.

These lofts are right across the street from Raccoon River Brewing Company to the North, and 111 City Lofts to the East. To the south of the building is The Mulberry Lofts as well, so this is quite a great location to live!
The 10th Street Lofts feature exposed brick, concrete floors and large windows in each unit. One unique feature to this property is that the building is full of rental units, they aren’t selling the lofts. Rents range from (don’t quote me) about $800 to about $1,600, depending on the size of the unit you rent.

The building is secured on the outside, so you need to have a key, or someone to unlock the doors for you to get inside. There is also quite a bit of underground storage and a gym on site as well.
PROS:
Rental availability. If you want to “try out” living downtown this is a great place that gives you that option.
Location, location, location.
Gated courtyard, not something you see downtown very much.
CONS:
No longer allow dogs. (I suppose if you hate dogs that’s a pro)
Rental only, so you can never buy into this property no matter how much you like it!
No views. The buildings are sandwiched between other buildings so even though you have big windows, you don’t get the great views.
For the person looking to “try before they buy,” or someone that just wants to rent, the 10th Street Lofts give you a great option, in a great location.
