111 City Lofts

If you haven’t heard of the 111 City Lofts please pull your head out of the sand! This project has sold quite well, and has a lot of people around downtown really buzzing.

The big buzz from what I have heard is the unique patio/deck/balcony that this building has. The developer wanted balcony’s but couldn’t figure out how to install them. One day the idea to move the balcony’s inward came to him, and he created something totally unique. With a space heater you’d have a patio area that you could use all year long. They are truly unique, and add quite a bit to this project.

The 111 City Lofts are located right by 10th St Lofts, The Mulberry Lofts and a new loft building that is being built as we speak. (I’ll add the name later when I remember it!)
You’re right by Raccoon River Brewing Co and Hotel Fort Des Moines, so the skywalks are right across the street basically.
The building also offers heated indoor parking on the first floor. So the package here has seen quite a bit of demand.
PROS:
The patio/balcony. Best that Des Moines has to offer.
Large units, very large feeling especially.
Great location.
CONS:
Model units feel like a 1980’s bad dream. I don’t know who designed them, but I don’t even think king of the 80’s look Donald Trump uses mirrors for walls anymore! (the good thing is that you wouldn’t need to design your own unit that way….)
Patio/balcony takes a lot of the airy light from the windows out of the unit. Unit’s feel a little dark.
No views once the new building is completed.
111 City Lofts are very popular, and have the city buzzing. That’s pretty amazing to me, considering what they’ve done with the model unit….(personal preference there I guess)
If you’ve not heard of this project, get your head out of the sand, jump in the car and check it out for yourself. The way things are going if you wait, you’re going to end up missing out.

Inward balconies? I think with a loft I’d rather forget about the balcony and get more floorspace that I could actually put to good use. The pics that you posted do look pretty nice though…!
