Living Downtown Friday Feature

I’ve had several people ask me about a few projects that they haven’t seen featured here yet.  In case you missed it, I reviewed a few properties here.

Friday I will have write-ups for you on Park Place, 111 City Lofts, Olive Street Condos, Gateway Lofts, perhaps even Brown Camp Lofts and 10th Street Lofts.

There are [...]

BBQ Fest Coming To Des Moines

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this.  I love BBQ, and I love learning about it.  Now Des Moines has a big festival of it’s own headed this way.  Check it out.
BBQ FEST
Cheap to get in, some concerts as well, this should be a great time!

Mulberry Lofts

The old Harger and Blish (from 1887) Building has recently undergone a conversion to lofts, and is now known as Mulberry Lofts.  I had the great opportunity to view these lofts last week with BJ Knapp and found them to be very well done.

The overall feel of the building was left in tact.  The developers [...]

Daughtry Plays The House of Bricks

Chris Daughty, you might remember as the 4th place finisher on American Idol last year, hit The House of Bricks last night.
Kyle Munson from the Register has a great write-up of the show.  I wasn’t there, but if my wife had her way we would have been.

Gray’s Lake is Frozen

Last night I took my dog Barkley for a stroll around Gray’s Lake.  It might have been a little cold, which is why I only saw one other person, but it was fantastic.
The lake and river have both frozen over, and there was a lot of ice on the trail, but it was great to [...]

Downtown Skywalks

During the winter, and all inclement weather the skywalks downtown are fantastic. It’s great to be able to walk through all of downtown without ever stepping foot outside.
This weekend my Grandma realized that we people aren’t the only ones that have figured this out. Either that, or the diabetes walk is even bigger than originally [...]

Girls State Basketball

The girls basketball teams (the good one’s anyway) are in town today, and the rest of this week, for the state tourney.  Of course we had horrible weather last week, which should have served as an annoucement that the tourney was on it’s way……
I try to remain neutral here, and I try my best to be [...]

Whiteline Lofts

If you haven’t heard the old Whiteline Building was converted into lofts, and the name of the building has been changed to Whiteline Lofts.

If the view is important to you, and a big part of where you would choose to live–Whiteline has the best.  (in my humble opinion)

Because Whiteline is a couple blocks off of [...]
