The first annual Antique and Collectible show or sale at Brenton Plaza Skating Plaza was last Saturday. My friend and I went to see how it was going. I wasn’t expecting to see a giant fish sitting outside the blue building, that was a little strange.

As is often the case with first time shows; there were only a few dealers, and they have hopes that more will join them at later events. I was told some of them would like to do another show in September. That sounds like that might be a good idea. It was very hot and humid so I’m sure not everyone wanted to look for antiques in the heat.

Every booth we visited had friendly people ready to help. I loved the “Coke Collectors” booth as I have always been a Coca Cola fan, not a collector, just a fan.

I did fall in love with some leather purses that were about one hundred years old. Sorry, I didn’t get a picture. Had I been a true antique lover, I might have thought about buying, but I’d rather just look. Lots of glass wear and jewelry, as you would expect. I love glassware but have no place to put any more, so I just looked.
Now, my friend is a collector of lovely older things and enjoyed herself. She was pleased with her purchases and felt she was treated well and the prices were right. Said she got some real bargains, and will return to the same dealers again, if they return.
My friend braved the heat longer then I did, but I found comfort inside the Grill, where they were serving Cold drinks. My friend joined me and we talked a little longer to other customers and went our way.
It’s good to see the skating rink used so much in the summer, and we will watch what they are doing next, and yes, we will check out another antique show if it comes alone.
