THE UNIT

I love this condo.  The response to the open floor plan has been fantastic!  This unit is on the 11th floor, and with the huge windows it has an amazing view.  The view from this unit has been a major selling point to the people that have leased at The Kirkwood.  Think about how great it is to just sit on your couch and enjoy your bird’s eye view of downtown Des Moines!

The greatest thing about this unit is the floorplan.  Since it’s a studio it’s very open, which makes it fantastic for entertaining.  Unlike other properties though, there are large closets and places to keep your things hidden–so not everything is open for all to see!  I love how the kitchen overlooks the condo, a great feature allowing you to cook and entertain at the same time.  You’re not hidden behind cupboards, or around some corner away from the action!

 

 THE BUILDING

 

The Kirkwood is no doubt the best place to live downtown!  The swank nature of the past has been preserved, but the condo feels new and modern.  Everyday when I walk though the art deco entrance I feel like I’ve taken a trip back through time!

What really sets The Kirkwood apart are the amenities.  In the basement you will find the finest workout facility available in any building downtown.  I really like the jacuzzi and the sauna!  The Kirkwood is also home to Azalea and Zen Noodle Bar, and as far as I know we’re the only property with 2 restaurants in the lobby!  For those nights when you don’t feel like cooking, or when you don’t want to go far–a quick ride down the elevator and you’re set!

The Kirkwood has onsite parking, which is a big plus–but most people never need it.  Since The Kirkwood is on the skywalks a quick walk to work, lunch, Wells Fargo Arena, or anything else going downtown is the typical mode of transportation.  Of course, when the weather’s nice and you want a little sun, or fresh air the sidewalks work just fine for walking as well!

 

THE LIFESTYLE

The Kirkwood lifestyle is all about convenience.  I can walk everywhere, and most places I don’t need to even step foot outside.  A quick walk and I can watch the Stars during the winter, or during the summer I’m just a few blocks from Principal Park to watch the I-Cubs.  The Civic Center and Court Avenue are just steps away as well, which I love!

One thing that many people don’t realize about living downtown is the freedom you get.  Gone are the days of mowing the yard, painting the house, trimming the tree, and all that other stuff that keeps you from doing what you really want to do!  When you live at The Kirkwood you have people to take care of that for you!  Having people means that you have more time to pursue your passions, and your hobbies.  That is really what I think the best perk of living downtown is.
