Downtown Des Moines Residents Share What They Love Part Six
Now to part 6, which asks the very simple question:
What place building, or place to live is your favorite downtown?
This brought in a vast assortment of answers. It’s my guess that since architecture is art, everyone has their own eye.
Enough rambling–let’s get on with our answers. Downtown residents love:
- The Capitol
- The Kirkwood
- Botanical Center
- Polk County Jail [huh? Must be someone that spends a few nights there]
- Mulberry Lofts
- Soho Lofts
- Brownstones on Grand
- Liberty Building
- Equitable Building
- American Republic Life Insurance Building
- 111 City Lofts
- Whiteline
- Midland Building
- 801 Grand
- Ruan Building [this person must have been lying....]
Which building(s) are your favorite downtown? If you spend a few minutes looking around you’ll notice, just as I did when I finally opened my eyes, that there are some really cool buildings. Downtown Des Moines has a lot of history and our city planners have done a good job of keeping some of the significant buildings around.
If you haven’t noticed, take a look around and see some of the really neat features that the buildings downtown have. You’ll be quite surprised!!!
