Downtown Neighborhood Association
Last Thursday I had the great opportunity to attend the Downtown Neighborhood Association meeting. This particular meeting was held at the new Gateway Market, at the corner of MLK and Woodland Ave. (side note, I’ll be meeting with the owners soon, hopefully I’ll have some great news for you)
I must say I was impressed with both the association and the Gateway Market. I had never been to any neighborhood association meeting before, so I didn’t quite know what to expect.
I went in figuring that the crowd would be young, and the meeting would be boring. I was very surprised at the diversity of the people there. Well, age-wise anyway! There were many people that I would say are young, some middle aged folks, and even some people that celebrate how many years young they are each year at their birthday.
That was very interesting to me, because I’ve heard that the vast majority of people moving downtown are young–which may be true. But, that association meeting showed me that it’s not only young people moving downtown. There’s a great mix, which I think is a very good thing.
If you are moving downtown, or thinking about it, the downtown neighborhood association is a great resource for any questions you might have. (Of course I am here to help should you be so inclined to ask me a question!)
Thanks again for the invite, it was great to meet all of you that I got a chance to talk with!
