Downtown Residents Share What They Love Part 1
I’ve told you before about a little “survey” that I sent out to downtown residents if you recall. Here’s some of the results!
What I sent out were 10 questions. I’m going to keep each of these short and sweet, so I’ll put up the answers to each question in a different article.
The first question asked to the people living downtown was:
What is your favorite place to eat downtown?
And the responses are listed below.
- Casual - Legends, Fancy - Azalea or Lucca
- Lucca (times 50!)
- Centro! But of course!
- Trattoria, Centro and Azalea
- In this order: The Continental, Basil Prosperi, A-Dong
- Uncle Wendell’s (for lunch only!)
- 801 Steak & Chop
- Sarpinos Pizzeria (yes, seriously)
- Gateway Market
- DId I mention Lucca?
Ok, so what does this mean? What it tells me is that there are a lot of places I’ve never eaten yet that people love.

Olympic Flame, Basil Prosperi, Palmer’s on the skywalk… guess I better try Lucca! Did anyone mention Baratta’s in the Historical building? Sandwiches are awesome! ~ Janet

I absolutely love Splash and Zen for dinner, infact, I eat at Zen so much they’ve got some sushi named after me, it’s awesome, just ask for the “downtown gal” and they’ll make it for you. Yummy Yummy! (similar to the captain crunch at Taki) York who is often there in the evenings also makes a fabulous basil martini! At Splash I would recommend the Alaskin Crab legs and the Vegetarian platter…Karla and Jason who are usually at the bar provide a fun experience with exceptional service. For lunch Winstons on the skywalk is exceptional. My favorite is the grilled cajun tuna sandwich….it’s exactly like the old Sheffields that use to be on the corner of 4th and Court years ago. I also enjoy the view of the architecture on the Equitable building out the large windows as I’m eating. I also have to mention Palmers as their food is excellent and they are so kind to my daughter Sophie. Living and eating downtown….it’s just like living “where everyone knows your name”.
