Downtown Residents Share What They Love Part 10

This is it. We’ve reached the end of our journey. In case this is something new to you, let me recap the first 9 parts of this series detailing a few of the things that the people living downtown love about it.

  1. What is the best place to eat downtown?
  2. Who has the best cup of Joe?
  3. Where is the best place to hang out at night?
  4. What’s the best yearly event?
  5. What’s the best thing to do downtown?
  6. Which is downtown’s best building?
  7. Best place to take your friends?
  8. What is the biggest misconception about living downtown?
  9. What is the best way to improve life downtown?

Now here is part 10. This last in our series of 10 is, in my opinion, the best one. This part is for each and all of you that read this site and are thinking about moving downtown. It’s for those of you that haven’t yet decided if the whole urban, hip, downtown lifestyle is for you. I asked people living downtown the following question:

If you could tell someone thinking about moving downtown just one thing, what would it be?

Keep in mind that these answers come from people that currently live downtown. Each one of these people at some point were exactly where you are now. They were thinking about moving, contemplating the idea, but weren’t yet sold on moving downtown.

What is the one thing that these people want you to know?

This is the one thing that they have to tell you.

  • You must try it for awhile. If you’re not sure, rent! You’ll never know how great it is until you’ve experienced it for yourself!
  • It is so convenient!
  • Just do it!
  • Giddy Up!!!
  • Open your mind and don’t fall into the trap of a price per square footage comparison. This is apples and oranges and will never add up……..
  • You’ll love it and you’ll never go back to the burbs, NEVER!!!
  • It’s a buyers market!
  • Fun, fun, fun and more fun.
  • Downtown isn’t for you if you prefer boredom, silence, not knowing your neighbors, traffic, having everything you could want to do withing walking distance of your home, and if you prefer to stay away from excitement then downtown is not for you!
  • The market is making it a very fun time to find a new home!
  • If you’re unsure, rent for a year. Then you’ll be buying downtown–trust me on that!
  • One perk that many folks don’t realize is moving downtown is a great opportunity for you to get rid of all the junk you don’t need (or use…).
  • You will never realize how much there is going on, and how much there is to do, see, and experience downtown until you live here. I’m blown away every week!
  • I have yet to meet someone that has regretted moving downtown. Seems to be that all who try it love it!

I didn’t receive one suggestion that people would advise to hesitate or to stay in the burbs. It really amazes me how much people really do love the urban lifestyle. Okay, no it doesn’t—but I’m sure it amazes some of you!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this 10 part series. If you have other suggestions be sure to let me know! If you have questions about moving downtown, or would like to be pointed into the right direction of your need–I’m here for you! Send me an email and let me know what you need, and I’ll get you going in the right direction……!
