Exciting Changes Downtown
The more time I spend researching, experiencing and observing the changes going on downtown I am amazed. When I graduated from high school in 1998 I thought Des Moines was DOA.
In the last 10 years the changes have been amazing. There is a huge shift to move entertainment, eating, cultural experience and even living to downtown Des Moines. There are several fantastic events that are on their way this summer, which I am very excited about.
If you haven’t spent any time looking into the new construction, renovations, companies coming to Des Moines, new places to eat and have fun, the new places to live, work and play–stick around here. My goal is to show it all to you. It’s almost overwhelming because there is so much now, and so much more on the way.
I hope that you’ll find this site very educational, and entertaining at the same time. If there is something you’d like me to feature, or someone that must be featured here, let me know! Email suggestions to josh@downtowndesmoinesblog.com.

This is great Josh. I live on 45th and we are new empty nesters so I’m looking at what downtown continues to offer. Things are moving and very exciting. I always wonder what the inside of some of these new and old condos look like and who the residents are that are moving in. Some of the prices have sounded so high!!! Could you get a look at the building that sits right next to Ritual Cafe? It’s an old apartment building and I always wonder about it when I am downtown. Who lives there? What does it look like inside? Wouldn’t a home tour downtown be fun? I know events happen like that when new buildings open but I mean a sampling across the downtown area.

If you want to see the new stuff there are open houses pretty much every Sunday. You can also call the realtors and schedule a time to view the properties if Sunday afternoon doesn’t work for you.
As far as pricing, I’ve seen units as cheap as $450 a month all the way north of $1,200,000. There’s pretty much every price range covered downtown!
I’ll try to figure out what building you’re talking about next to the Ritual Cafe. It’s not coming right to me, and google maps satellite images are outdated……
