Gateway Lofts
Where there used to be a Meadow Gold building on the 1700 block of Grand you’ll now find Gateway Lofts.
The lofts are a concrete building, very minimalist in design. The outside works for some people, other people (myself included) don’t quite get it. Using just concrete and windows to make the design seems pretty plain to me, and can be boring. I’m sure there was a purpose for it, but I haven’t been able to reach anyone related to the project to give me more info. (I can only try so hard!)
The inside though……they’re fantastic.
The first floor, ground level I’m told will be shopping or retail space. I’m not positive about that, but I do know that the residential units start on level 2. Those units are one level, and the units on level 3 also have a mezzanine loft on level 4.
As much as I don’t care for the outside, the inside living space in this building is really awesome. Huge windows, concrete floors (which the models have cut and colored the concrete making them look like huge tile floors), and exposed duct work etc. give these a great loft feel.
Even though the building is new, plenty of character has been put into the units, through the design. Personally, the more I think about Gateway Lofts, the more I like them.
Where they stack up on my favorites list–you’ll have to wait for that.
PROS:
Excellent interior design.
Big windows, big views, tall ceilings, great loft feel. Windows view the park, which is refreshing and relaxing.
Affordable entry price.
CONS:
Location will be much better in a few years than it is today.
Skywalks are quite a few blocks away.
The outside of the building is not even close to my favorite!
The Gateway Lofts are a great package, and for people looking for a loft are something you should be sure to check out.
***Thanks to the guys at www.absolutedsm.com for the only good picture of the exterior that I could find!
