Coming this weekend is a full fledged feature about living downtown, and what people living there had to say about it.  (if you received my survey and haven’t sent it back yet, time’s ticking if you want your opinion to be heard……)

The last question of the survey is this:

If you could tell someone thinking about moving downtown one thing, what would it be?

I have received many different answers, but they all have come to the same conclusion.   Their answers are as diverse as the neighborhood is, which makes sense, but they all want to tell you the same thing.   What is it you ask?

Here is the one thing downtown Des Moines residents want to tell you.

• Giddy Up! (this wins my personal favorite answer so far)
• It’s a buyer’s market for housing.  Have fun shopping for a place to live!
• You’ll love it and you’ll never go back to the ‘burbs.  NEVER!
• Open your mind and don’t fall into the trap of comparing what you could buy per square foot in the ‘burbs vs downtown.  This is an apples to oranges comparison.
• Just do it!
• It is so convenient!
• Try it for a while! Rent if you’re not sure. You don’t realize how great it is until you try it.

Each one of these people, which this is just a sample, want you to jump in!  Not one person has told me that you should think twice, or stay away.  If you’re thinking about moving downtown these people want you to know one thing……THAT IT’S GREAT!!!
