I finally made my way over to inPlay last week, and had a chance to meet with the General Manager, Michael Stessman.
I was really surprised by what I found at inPlay, which stands for indoor play. (for those of you wondering why the name was written that way!) Not only do they have a great sports bar, a kids play area, and a grown-ups play area, they have a mini bowling alley, billards room, and conference/reception rooms on par with any hotel downtown–but with great views of the city! In fact, the day I stopped in they were setting up for the big weigh in for the fight going on at Wells Fargo Arena Saturday night.

As evidenced by the amount of people that have been to inPlay so far, this place is going to be a huge hit. I would probably say it is a hit, not going to be one!
The location rocks, and if you’re in the mood for some fun to go along with your dinner be sure to visit inPlay. I’ve added some photos, but I have left 2 very specific ones out. I don’t have a picture of the billards room, or of the mini bowling alley. If you want to know what those are like–see it in person. No picture will do justice to the bowling alley, it’s pretty awesome!
inPlay also has those banquet, reception and conference rooms. I was quite surprised by these facilities, and can only imagine how much fun a conference or wedding reception could be here.
I hope you’re excited about inPlay, because I sure am. This place is exactly the kind of place that downtown Des Moines has needed.
I did find out that there is a new shipment of games headed in next week, including some that nobody else around here will have. The eagerly awaited rock climbing wall should be ready before too long as well.
Do yourself a favor and come hang out at inPlay. You’ll have a lot of fun!
Sophie and I both loved the mini bowling. Our other top two were the old time photo booth and the rock climbing. The employees there are also very upbeat!
The mini-bowling alone is worth the visit. Heck, the video games alone, etc….Awesome place!
the facility is awesome! But the general manager is so childish.
Ok, do share…….
The food was the best!
