Moving Downtown

 Brown Camp Lofts

Whiteline Lofts

Most people know that the folks in charge of the great city of Des Moines want to have 10,000 people living downtown, and living there soon.  What most people don’t know is where they can live.  What places  are there, where are they at, what do they offer etc….

Court Avenue Lofts

I’ve been working very hard to compile a list for everyone.  I want to show people the really neat places that are now available, or will be available soon to live in downtown.

You can also find this link on the header bar, where it says LIVE.  I’ve put together a list to make searching for where to live downtown easier.  I’m pretty sure I’ve got everyone listed, but if you see someone I’ve missed please let me know!

Mulberry Lofts

Living downtown is much different than living in the burbs.  It’s exciting to me, and it’s exciting to the many people that already live here.  Take a look at all the places that have been prepared (for you!), it’s really amazing how much work has been done in such a short time.

Olive Street Condos

There is such a great variety, from condos like 418 Liberty, Kirkwood, and Equitable, to lofts such as Vine Street Lofts, Whiteline, 10th Street Lofts, 111 City Lofts and Mulberry Lofts, to east coast styled living with Brownstones on Grand, and Woodland Ave Brickstones.  There are even some really unique places in Sherman Hill I haven’t even gotten to yet.  I’m only naming a few, but there’s a huge variety right now, and even more being proposed.

The most expensive units top out north of $1,200,000, and the cheapest units start around $450/mo.  I’m sure if you’re interested you can find a property that you will love, and that will fit your budget!

I’ve written a few quickie reviews about some of these properties, and by continuing to visit here you’ll read more.

I hope you enjoy my work, and the LIVE page is a great place to begin your search for your new home downtown!

Is there any bbq downtown? If there is you ought to do a story on food. Real Estate is boring unless you got millions to spend. I like 2 no more on downtown hot joints to eat @.

So really there are affordable places to live downtown? Where? I’m not necessarily to $450 a month guy, but the difference is amazing between what you get for a 1br for $600 and a 2br for $750.

Places to live downtown–lots of em. Each building is diffrerent and has different perks and pluses. How much you spend really depends on what you want, or what you need.
