Nollen Plaza Drumming for Darfur

by Jo Hill

Nollen Plaza seems to be the spot downtown to met.  Even if you aren’t in agreement or part of the event it is fun to see what is going on there, such as  Bull dog beauty contests, drum corp sessions, and races.  Also a good place for lunches at noon.

There was a small but colorful demonstration at Nollen Plaza this weekend.  The group were beating drums to point out the genocide in Darfur.  It was my understanding they had continued to beat the drums all night Friday into Saturday morning; and each beat symbolized  the death of a number of people.   I’m sure anyone wanted to aid their cause was welcomed.  As I passed the group was
entertaining a small crowd.  I’m sure a number of people stopped and listened on their way to the Market.
