Park Place
It used to be that you could rent a condo at Park Place Apartments, and have a nice high-rise apartment on the cheap.
Well, that was so popular that now Park Place has undergone extensive renovation, converted to condos, and just recently were put up for sale.

The great news is that pricing is very cheap. $150,000 range cheap. The units are all nice, since they were recently renovated–they actually look new.

Park Place is right next to the Principal Z building, so you’re 1 block from the skywalks. From what I’ve seen it may just be the most affordable place to live downtown–especially considering what you get for the price.
PROS:
Very affordable pricing.
Secure building, secure parking (indoor), very safe feeling. I’ve been told the place is very popular with single women (perk for guys I guess!).
High rise units, views, perks, not high rise price.
CONS:
Units are quite small. (but they feel bigger than the smaller and more expensive lofts downtown)
Balcony is made of concrete, thus hiding the view.
Overall, this is a great value for downtown. Seriously, how many high rise buildings are there that have secure entrance, secure parking, and don’t set you back $500,000 to get in?
