Project Destiny Crashes And Burns

Wow! I thought they didn’t have much support, but wow!

Perfectly good waste of a few hundred grand………

If you’ve been following this site you’ve seen that it wasn’t until recently that I came out in opposition to this bill. At first this sounded like a decent idea, even though raising taxes on yourself is dumb. But the more time that passed, and the more times these folks opened their mouths, the more obvious it was that this was a horrible idea.

If they want more money here’s a suggestion from a local kid. Reduce spending elsewhere, and use what you’ve already got.

I liked watching the news and seeing all the ones in favor of PD trying to figure out why we all voted NO. I had to laugh that we were all mad at Prairie Meadows, CEITEC (sp?), or we just weren’t informed. Ha! Does an 80% against say to anyone “it’s just a bad idea?”

Back to the drawing board. How will they try to get our money next time? I’m with you, Josh. Let’s try to get someone in there that can see problems with the money we already have, and make it better.

I understand that there are plans to replace or build an annex to the Polk County Courthouse.

I haven’t seen any recent estimates on how much it would cost to build the annex or replace the courthouse, but I know that it will not be inexpensive. Perhaps I am ignorant, but would it be possible to build a new courthouse structure, complete or annex, without having to raise taxes? That fear was one reason why I voted NO on the recent sales tax proposal.
