It looked to me like the Race/Walk for the cure was a big success this weekend. After the race, I took a lot of pictures. I heard various number about how many people took part, anywhere from 20,000-40,000. That’s a lot of people with the same thing on their minds. Not sure I’d even seen so many white and pink shirts in my life.

The walk was one mile and that let almost anyone do it if they wanted. I was amazed at the ones I saw. Lots, and lots of tiny folks in strollers, and walking with their parents. A few dogs did the walk but not as many as you see at the Farmer’s Market.

Little Nellie looked at me as if to say, “You should have done this too.!”

Many people also wore names of those they were doing this for. There were a few wheel chairs, and one group told me their young friend did the whole mile on her own. As warm as it was–I think she did well. They were having a great time, dressed in their white shirts, and enjoying each other. Seeing family doing this together was nice, especially seeing three generations of women walking together holding holds so the oldest had a little help. Or maybe it was just caring.

Traffic was closed off on some streets so we had traffics cops in places directing traffic. They were giving away prizes and awards, and even Ronald McDonald showed up. Everyone, just everyone I saw was smiling and happy, feeling good to be part of the ‘Cure’.

Also, it should be noted that pink was worn by survivors, and white is worn by supporters.
