Robert Ray Asian Garden

by Jo Hill

I was beginning to think they weren’t going to ever finish this project, but it now looks like the Robert Ray Asian Garden is really being finished. The fence has been broken down and the signs still says KEEP OUT, but You can now see just what is happening. Even as the weather turns cold, you can see what the garden will be come spring.

Actually , it is beautiful now, but when it is finished, it will be wonderful. I was surprised to see someone has trimmed the pine trees to look like they would in a real Asian Garden. I can hardly wait to walk through the walkways and look at the plants, rocks and Foo Dogs. Oh, yes, there are two large lions, known as Foo dogs, guarding the place.

I had thought it would not be to my liking, but it so different then anything else we have on the trails, I find myself enjoying it.

If you drive to the Botanical Center, stop and look it over. Let us know how you feel about it.

[If you have an opinion, please be sure to let everyone know what you think of the Asian Garden too!]

Anybody plan on visiting in the cold? I would think it would have been nice to have this done while it was still warm!
