Sherman Hill Walking Tour This And Next Weekend

I had a chance a few months back to get a personal tour though Sherman Hill. Do you remember?

If you would like to have a similar experience, and it is one that I highly recommend, I have some great news for you. This was a great find in The Des Moines Register.

 

Doors to the Past Walking Tour of Historic Homes

WHAT: A tour of homes, apartments, gardens and businesses in one of Des Moines’ oldest neighborhoods.

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22-23 and Sept. 29-30.

WHERE: Sherman Hill. Starting point is the Mickle Neighborhood Resource Center, 1620 Pleasant St. An alternative starting point with parking is Hoyt Sherman Place, 15th Street and Woodland Avenue.

ADMISSION: Advance $10 tickets are available at Dahl’s Foods, 35th Street and Ingersoll Avenue; Eden, 500 E. Grand Ave.; Borders Books and Music, 4100 University Ave., West Des Moines; Chocolaterie Stam, 2814 Ingersoll Ave.; Gateway Market, 2002 Woodland Ave.; Zanzibar’s Coffee, 2723 Ingersoll Ave.; the Art Store, 801 73rd St., Windsor Heights; and Hoyt Sherman Place. They may also be purchased online at www.iowatix.com.

Tickets purchased the day of the tour are $15 for one weekend or $25 for both weekends. All student tickets are discounted to $5 with student ID. Children under 6 are free. Groups of 15 or more are eligible to purchase group tickets at the advanced ticket price of $10.
