If you happened to see the Des Moines Register’s front page on Friday you no doubt saw that property assessments have gone up by 6.9%. We all know that now everyone is looking at a tax hike in their property taxes as well.
Property taxes are ridiculous already, so tax increases are never something to enjoy……
So let me encourage you to stick it to the man. Tell the man you’re taking a decade off–you’ve had a enough property taxes, and you need a decade to reassess your situation.
BUY DOWNTOWN
Most downtown property brings with it a full 10 year tax abatement. That’s 10 years with little, or no, property taxes.
Get chuckle out of all those suckers in the suburbs paying $1,000-$5,000 for their right to live there. HA! Move downtown and pay nothing!
Do your part to stick it to the man–come live downtown!
I can’t believe our little bungalow behind IngerDahl’s is now worth $22,000 more than the last time they dinged us. Are you kidding me? I have a tons of rentals around me, two abandoned houses on my street…The city is basically begging me to move out of this dying neighborhood. The only thing is, no one would buy my house for what the city says it’s worth. Buy downtown or in one of the burbs. You’ll get what you deserve and it won’t cost you a thing.
