Are you kidding me? I have a tons of rentals around me, two abandoned houses on my street...The city is basically begging me to move out of this dying neighborhood. The only thing is, no one would buy my house for what the city says it's worth. Buy downtown or in one of the burbs. You'll get what you deserve and it won't cost you a thing.
