The Liberty Building

The Liberty Building, as I am sure you’ve heard has undergone quite a few renovations as of late. Now you can workout on the main level at GYM/FX, have your office here, or ride the elevator to the top and live at 418 Liberty.

I went through the model units at 418 Liberty on Sunday. I was pretty impressed. The finish was very high quality, the layout was great, and they have made each unit feel much bigger than it really is.
Most of the buildings downtown when converted seem to be turned into lofts. I am probably missing something here, but I can only think of The Equitable Building as the only other one that has been converted to condos, not lofts. That is something that makes 418 Liberty pretty neat, because condos are not as common downtown right now. (at least from what I have seen)

The ceilings in the units at 418 Liberty must be 11 or 12 feet tall. When you walk in the rooms feel huge, even though they aren’t. Some buildings have huge windows that add size to the units, others have done nothing to make the units feel bigger, but the ceilings at 418 Liberty do the best job of making each room feel bigger.
There were a few things about 418 Liberty that I didn’t love. The building is on the sky-walks, so that’s great. But the parking is across the street in a private parking garage. Not a huge deal, but not as nice as on site or underground parking.
Also, the patios that some of the units have are not in the greatest spot. The view is terrible because the beautiful Ruan building blocks most of your view, and the buildings below are just as bad.
So here’s my quick roundup.
Pros:
Luxurious feel, quality finish, great layout.
Right on the sky-walks.
Upgrades to the hallways and entryway’s of the building make the entire building feel upscale.
Cons:
Off site parking.
Patio view could be much better.
Certainly not the cheapest option to living downtown.
I salute the folks that completed this project, job well done!

Well at least it looks like a new parking garage. I cant imagine carrying groceries from the parking garage through the skywalk, to the elevator and up to the hallway to your condo.

I’ve been a long time downtown resident and I’ve always handled the grocery situation by leaving a wagon or cart in front of my car in the garage. When I come home, I load the groceries into the wagon take them to my home and then bring the wagon back with me the next time I go to my vehicle. The great thing about he Liberty is that they have more storage then any other complex I am aware of….it’s easy to store your wagon or cart in your actual condo or in your storage room which is on the same level as your condo. It’s ideal and I love living here.
