Village Bean Hosts Q Party

by Jo Hill

One of the follow ups of the Big Dream Gathering was the Q Party put on by Mitch and Melissa held at the Village Bean in east Village.  Several of the dreamers came to play the Q Game.  Beth and I went together and spent the evening with new friends.  As we got acquainted we noticed a Webster City T-shirt on Jennifer.  Beth told her that was my hometown, and we found as we talked that she is the Pastor’s wife of the Lutheran Church where I grew up, and she told me my seventh grade teacher is still attending and active.  I was her student sixty years ago, and left Webster City around 50 years ago.

Another new friend was looking for a new church and was interested in Capital Hill Lutheran Church, which is a downtown Des Moines Church, and where I now attend.  Think we may see each other there soon.

The Village bean was a great place to met–the help were pleasant and we were made to feel at home.  Other customers came and went and we sat and laughed, and had a great time, but also had some very serious moments.  This game is a good way to get to know people without making anyone uncomfortable.  It was a fixed group that came, from young adults, and professional, and a couple of people that had gray hair showing.  It looked  like most everyone was having a good time.   I even  noticed that two young women came in for coffee and were playing the game by themselves.
Good game and good place for coffee.
