This site is a labor of love, and something that we pride ourselves in sharing. It was started because of the absolute lack of information that was available earlier this year. We’d like to think because of us sites have been improved, we’ve been imitated [update: guess our friends couldn't draw enough traffic with their video contest they wanted us to promote...], and best of all, we’ve been very well received.

But we have learned one thing. We aren’t enough people!!!

There is so much to do, to see, to touch and to live out downtown that we just can’t cover it all. The social fabric of downtown is so diverse that our interests don’t match up with everyone, and we miss a ton of things that other people would love to see, and to learn about!

That’s why we need you! We need more people that are excited about downtown, living downtown, and want to share what’s going on! We need people to write about thing’s they’re doing, restaurants they’ve eaten at, events they’ve attended, places they live etc…

If you don’t like writing you can simply take a few pictures and send them to me! We don’t have enough people to even come close to covering everything going on, much less the places to eat, work, sleep, visit, smell, scream or whatever it is you like to do!

Will you join us? Will you share little bits and pieces of your life with others? I don’t want anybody to take this on as a job. Write a few paragraphs about something, take a few pictures–it’s easy!

Downtown Des Moines Blog wants you! And we want to make sure that this site has bigger arms and can cover more of what we all love, downtown Des Moines!

What am I talking about? Here’s an example. We don’t yet have anyone that is much into the thriving nightlife going on downtown. Since nobody is into it, we don’t ever write about it. Since we don’t write about it, thousands of our readers don’t know about it.

We completely missed Wine Fest. Once again, one of those things that none of us are into, so we somehow completely whiffed on that one.

There’s so many events, even daily, that we don’t want to miss. When you attend something, or eat somewhere, or get your groove on downtown–take a few pics and write a paragraph or 3 about it. That’s it.

It’s the easiest way out there for you to improve downtown Des Moines. The more knowledge, the more excitement, the more people that bring themselves, and their money downtown. You see–you can make a difference!
