Whiteline Lofts
If you haven’t heard the old Whiteline Building was converted into lofts, and the name of the building has been changed to Whiteline Lofts.

If the view is important to you, and a big part of where you would choose to live–Whiteline has the best. (in my humble opinion)

Because Whiteline is a couple blocks off of the skyline, the lofts that face north have a perfect view of downtown Des Moines. The lofts are also floor to ceiling windows, so you really do have an unobstructed view.
Whiteline Lofts also have a great workout facility, concierge service and heated underground parking (penthouse units) or gated on-site parking for everyone else.
PROS:
Best views of downtown Des Moines.
Floor to ceiling windows, tall ceilings and concrete flooring give this a true loft feel, and a luxurious feel at that.
On-site gated parking, or heated underground parking if you buy a penthouse unit.
CONS:
2 blocks south of Court Ave, thus 2 blocks away from skywalks.
Quite expensive (starts in the $150,000 range, goes up to over $1.4 million)
If privacy is your thing, walls made of windows might be a problem.
I love Whiteline Lofts, they’re one of my favorite places that someone could pick to live downtown. And the view……

I have one of the smallest units in the building and have found creative ways to make use of what space I have. Check out the photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/8875803@N03.

I would agree though the mulberry units are a nice step up from the “standard” unit at whiteline but I would have to say that the custom units at whiteline are above and beyond anything at mulberry. I love browncamp as well and wish whiteline could have kept some of its original character, and think that Mulberry did an excellent job at fitting everything in 680 s.f. Whiteline built everything around an open floor plate generally making it feel like one big room. My unit is 530 s.f. and would take it over the small mulberry units any day, but that of course was because i had the opportunity to design and build exactly what I wanted.
